It's about saying yes...Baptism Sunday
Baptism Sunday is all about saying “yes” to God’s invitation and celebrating new life. Acts 8 shows us that God always moves first—pursuing, stirring, and setting things in motion. Our role? Simply respond. Sometimes faith is slow and steady, sometimes it’s a bold leap, but baptism is the moment to go public and declare, “I belong to Jesus.” It’s not about perfection, it’s about taking the next step—and cheering on others who do the same.
KEY VERSES:
- Acts 8:26–39
- Romans 10:9–10
- Philippians 1:6
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Baptism is a celebration — It’s not about rules, but about showing what God has already done in your heart. (Acts 8:26–39)
- God moves first — From the cross to the Spirit’s nudges, He pursues us before we ever think of Him. (Romans 10:9–10)
- We respond with “yes” — Like Philip and the eunuch, faith often comes down to saying yes, even when it’s uncomfortable.
- God is working behind the scenes — He stirs hearts, lines up encounters, and uses people to answer others’ prayers. (Philippians 1:6)
- Faith is a journey — Sometimes slow and winding, sometimes a giant leap—both are beautiful and part of growth. (Israel’s wilderness story as backdrop)
- Today is a big leap — Baptism is the next step, a public declaration, and a reason to celebrate.
TALK ABOUT IT:
- What does baptism mean to you personally—symbol, step, or story?
- Where have you seen God “move first” in your life?
- What holds people back from saying “yes” to God? What holds you back?
- Why do you think God uses people to answer others’ prayers?
- Does your faith feel more like a slow journey or a big leap right now? Why?
- How can we celebrate and support people who are taking faith steps?
- Who in your life might need encouragement to take their next step?
APPLY IT:
- If you’ve never been baptized, consider taking that step as your public “yes” to Jesus.
- Look for where God may already be moving in your life and simply respond instead of resisting.
- Encourage and celebrate others’ faith steps—be the loudest cheerleader today.
- Share your faith story with someone—it may be the answer to their unspoken questions.
- Commit to small, consistent “yeses” in your faith, not just the big leaps.
- Remember that faith doesn’t mean perfection—it means continuing to walk, even when it’s slow.
