Life rarely follows the plan we imagined. Unexpected setbacks, closed doors, broken relationships, disappointments, and unanswered questions can leave us wondering if our story has gone off the rails. This talk reminds us that we're not the author of our own story—God is. Looking at Paul's journey in Acts 16:6-10, we see that what felt like frustrating "no's" from God were actually leading to a far greater purpose than Paul could have imagined. Instead of giving up when life doesn't make sense, we're invited to trust God's direction one step at a time, remain faithful in what He's already asked us to do, and believe that even the difficult chapters can become part of a better story than we could ever write for ourselves.

Life often feels like trying to put together a puzzle without having the picture on the box. We only see a few confusing or painful pieces—relationship struggles, health issues, financial stress, uncertainty about the future—and it's easy to want to give up. Through the story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6, we're reminded that while we only see part of the story, God sees the whole picture. The servant panicked because he only saw the enemy, but God opened his eyes to see that He was already at work in ways he couldn't see. The challenge is to keep trusting God, even when life doesn't make sense, believing that He is working through every piece for His purposes. Instead of quitting or trying to force everything to fit together ourselves, we can place our trust in God one step at a time, knowing He is faithful and that His peace is available even before we understand the outcome.

One of the hardest parts of following God is waiting, but waiting doesn't mean God has forgotten us. Joseph spent thirteen years experiencing betrayal, injustice, false accusations, and imprisonment before God's promise finally came to pass. Throughout every setback, Scripture repeatedly reminds us that "the Lord was with Joseph." God's silence encourages us to trust that even when we can't see what He's doing. Waiting isn't wasted time—it's often where God does His deepest work in us as He prepares us for what comes next.

Sometimes life can take things from us that we never expected to lose—relationships, jobs, opportunities, financial security, hope, or simply the energy to keep going. When that happens, pain will drive us somewhere, and we can easily turn toward anger, isolation, distraction, unhealthy coping, or trying to fix everything ourselves. But David shows us another way: when he had nothing left, he found strength in the Lord and sought God before making his next move. God never asks us to be enough; He asks us to come to the One who is enough. We don't have to figure everything out or refill our own lives. We can bring our pain, losses, fears, and emptiness to Jesus, trust Him with them, and take the next step with Him.
